Childhood Recollections

You must understand that my memory, it's very much worthless when it comes down to trying to remember events I took part in past the age of 6 apparently. Yes, I even had to call my parents and ask them how old I was when certain things happened to figure out which one of my memories was the oldest...Turns out that my oldest memory occurred when I was 5. This memory is faint though. It's no where near like it just occurred yesterday. For the majority of my life, I have always loved animals. So you could imagine I had quite a ball when I got to take a trip out to a farm owned by a friend of my Dad's, Raelene. I recall most being intrigued with the chocolate labrador and the border collie that absolutely enjoyed my company. I was one of the few people around more than willing to pick up the mud, slober encrusted stick and toss it around for the two to compete to fetch. However, it's also hard to forget having the opportunity to witness the birth of a gorgeous chestnut foal. It's not exactly something I remember vividly. My bet is that the reason for that, is the fact I was a short kid and very unlikely to be able to see over a stall door. I honestly can't recall if I witnessed the labor anyway. You would think I would if I did...but I do remember being in the stall to look at the newborn filly as she feebly stood in the thick straw with her mother standing close to her side.
