Plagiarism: Is it avoidable

I recall from the first groups presentation an interesting question was brought to the table. Is plagiarism avoidable? I'd have to say this kind of an awkward question to answer. I am leaning toward no, but at the same time a part of me wants to say yes. As we've already discovered there are no original stories...so to me no matter the attempt everything will be a retelling in some way or another. It's gotta be impossible not to plagiarize. After all changing and rearranging words cannot make it your own when the same message has already been said before. Still I lean toward yes only due to the idea of stealing word for word - not a good thing, not that changing and rearranging words makes it any better though. It really can't be possible not to plagiarize when looking at the ideas being repeated...
